Water stained; 88 degrees;Shallows around rock riprap or in areas holding sand bottom and aquatic vegetation such as lily pads have been alive with bluegills and other sunfish. Bait with meal worms, red wigglers or crickets and enjoyed outstanding "bream" fishing, Catfish continue biting around baited holes along channels in 25-30 feet of water. Catfish continue to be the most cooperative fish in the lake. Wednesday morning's cloudy, slightly cooler weather made for comfortable as well as productive fishing. Fishing baited areas along a channel in 22-26 feet of water produced limits or near limits of 1-2-pound channel cats. Crappie fishing has been spotty, with scattered catches being taken on live minnows fished over and along the side of brush piles in 18-25 feet of water. Anglers hitting several submerged brush piles have taken fair catches, including some large fish. Live minnows have been the best bait, but small jigs also are taking some crappie. Largemouth bass fishing has been tough, as is typical for summer. Best catches have been taken on Carolina-rig plastic worms or deep-diving crankbaits fished around structure in 12-15 feet of water.
With best catches being taken by anglers focusing on mid-depth brush or deep-water structure.
